2010 OV Baseball Receives More Accolades

February 27, 2011

Ocean View’s 2010 baseball team was ranked #28 on OC Varsity’s Top 30 teams of 2010. Via OC Varsity:

The Seahawks are not an Orange County top 10 team, nor did they have any players on the All-Orange County first team. But as a team, Ocean View was something else. The Seahawks beat top-seeded Beckman, 6-3, in the quarterfinals of the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs, took out Gahr of Cerritos, 7-3, in the semifinals and then beat Bonita of La Verne, 2-1 in the championship game in which juniors Blake Walker and Freddy Sepulveda combined on a four-hitter. That championship game victory concluded a 13-game winning streak.

The #1 selection was basically a lock, Servite Football, who went undefeated and won the CIF Championship against a Tre Madden-less Mission Viejo. The OC Powerhouse asked for perennial powerhouse Concord De La Salle in the open division state championships, and got whooped, only acquiring 22 first half yards. While the season ended poorly, the Friars were easily the most complete team around.

Mater Dei and St. Margaret’s tied for best Athletic programs in Orange County with 4 mentions in the top 30.

Urban Meyer Steps Down as Florida Head Coach

December 27, 2009

Due to stress related problems, Urban Meyer stepped down as the UF head coach this evening. This is one of the most shell-shocking bits of news that has hit the college football season.

Updates here and here

After being the only coach in history to win 2 BCS Championships outright (Haha Peter) and the most innovative Hybrid-Offensive Coach in the game, I wish him a swift recovery and a great remainder of his life in and out of football.
