Well that was an interesting 1st Quarter. Ocean View is playing tight defense and Apple Valley is countering them on the other end. If Ocean View shot just a little better, this could have been a 10 point game

End of 1st: Ocean View 26, Lutheran 14

January 10, 2010

After what looked like a competetive start, Ocean View started striding away from the Trojans. Can they keep it up?

OV-Lutheran @ Long Beach Cabrillo

January 10, 2010

After the ridiculous and pointless game yesterday, OV (11-3) looks to suit up against Lutheran High School (8-6) (LaVerne, California).

Lutheran is coming off of a similar game in which they destroyed La Sierra Academy 125-32, Ocean View’s defense topped that score by only allowing 15 points, and 2 in one quarter. Questions about the strength of schedule for Lutheran end by taking a look at each of their losses; Centennial and Leuzinger top the in state losses for the Trojans. Both games were closely contested, which is something to be concerned about tonight.

The Trojans are led by Grant Jerrett, a 6’8” Forward who has been compared to Bill Walton (By the way, he’s only a sophomore). Jerrett averages 19.3 points per game, and 11.4 boards per game. Jerrett will really be able to gauge the defense that OV has in the post and give everyone a good view of what things can look like when the postseason rolls around.

If there were any superior guards to match up with our wings, this could be a bad matchup for the Hawks, but with the defense clicking, and the offense (from what I’ve seen in 8 minutes) rolling, it shouldn’t be too hairy.

Prediction:

Ocean View: 74

Lutheran: 64
